Best Instant Pot Accessories: Trivets, Steamer Baskets and More Worth Buying (2026)

An Instant Pot does a lot on its own, but a few inexpensive accessories make it far more useful. A good trivet with handles lets you lift out a whole chicken or a pan of egg bites without burning your fingers. A steamer basket keeps vegetables above the water. A second sealing ring stops your yogurt from tasting like last night’s chili. And a spare inner pot means you can cook a batch of beans while the first pot is still in the fridge.

This guide covers the seven Instant Pot accessories we think are worth owning, with a focus on the ones that help in a lectin-conscious kitchen: pressure cooking beans safely, steaming vegetables and cooking pot-in-pot. Every item was available on Amazon when we checked on October 30, 2026.

How we picked: We did not hands-on test these specific accessories for this article. We compared each Amazon listing’s specifications (materials, size compatibility, dimensions and dishwasher safety), favored official Instant Pot accessories where they were available, and checked that each listing was live.

Why Accessories Matter in a Lectin-Conscious Kitchen

Dr. Gundry recommends pressure cooking legumes to reduce lectins (see the Gundry MD pressure cooker guide in our sources). The FDA notes that phytohaemagglutinin, a lectin in raw or undercooked kidney beans, can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, and that soaking beans and then boiling them thoroughly destroys it. Published research on red kidney beans has also shown that thorough heat processing of soaked beans eliminates their lectin (hemagglutinating) activity. The pot does that job, but accessories make it easier to cook beans and the vegetables you eat with them.

Steaming is a good example. A 2009 study of broccoli in the Journal of Zhejiang University Science B found that conventional steaming caused no significant loss of vitamin C and kept glucosinolates almost unchanged, while boiling, microwaving and stir-frying caused bigger losses. That study used a regular steamer rather than a pressure cooker, but a basket that holds vegetables above the water works on the same principle.

1. Sugaroom Steamer Rack Trivet with Silicone Handles — Best trivet

Most Instant Pots come with a basic steam rack, but the short handles make it awkward to lift out a heavy pan or a whole chicken. This rack has 5.2-inch heat-resistant silicone handles that stand up above the food, so you can lift a cheesecake pan or a bowl of pot-in-pot beans straight out. Its 1-inch legs keep food above the water, and the handles fold down flat for storage.

It is made of 304 stainless steel, it is dishwasher safe, and the listing says its smooth legs won’t scratch a nonstick pot. Sugaroom lists it as compatible with 6- and 8-quart Instant Pots such as the IP-DUO60, IP-LUX60 and IP-DUO80, plus other electric pressure cookers.

Key specs

  • Material: 304 stainless steel
  • Handles: 5.2″ heat-resistant silicone, fold flat
  • Legs: about 1″ tall
  • Size: about 7.7″ x 5.2″ (per listing)
  • Fits: 6- and 8-quart Instant Pots and similar cookers
  • Cleanup: dishwasher safe

Pros

  • Long handles make lifting heavy pans safer
  • Folds flat for storage
  • Sturdy stainless steel
  • Inexpensive upgrade over the stock rack

Cons

  • Not an official Instant Pot accessory
  • Silicone handles take up some room under tall pans

Best for: Anyone who cooks pot-in-pot, whole chickens, cheesecakes or egg dishes.

2. Instant Pot Official Mesh Steamer Basket Set — Best steamer and strainer

This official two-basket set is the accessory we’d use most in a lectin-conscious kitchen. Raised feet keep vegetables, fish and eggs above the boiling water, and each basket has an easy-lift handle for getting food out quickly so it doesn’t overcook. Because the baskets are fine stainless mesh, they double as strainers for rinsing soaked beans or washing produce.

The baskets are rust-resistant stainless steel and dishwasher safe, and the set weighs just 15.2 ounces. Instant lists dimensions of about 8.67 x 8.67 x 6.3 inches; confirm the fit for your cooker size on the listing before ordering.

Key specs

  • Included: 2 mesh steamer baskets
  • Material: rust-resistant stainless steel
  • Features: raised feet, easy-lift handle
  • Uses: steamer and strainer
  • Dimensions: about 8.67″ x 8.67″ x 6.3″; 15.2 oz
  • Cleanup: dishwasher safe

Pros

  • Official Instant Pot accessory
  • Doubles as a colander for rinsing beans
  • Two baskets for steaming two foods
  • Fine mesh holds small foods

Cons

  • Mesh takes a little more scrubbing than solid steel
  • Check size compatibility for your cooker

Best for: Steaming vegetables, fish and eggs, and rinsing soaked beans.

3. Instant Pot Official Silicone Steamer Basket — Best for delicate foods

The official silicone basket is a good second steamer, or a first one if storage space is tight. Its pleated sides fold inward to store compactly, then expand to hold larger portions, and built-in locking handles give you a secure grip when lifting hot food. Soft silicone is gentle on delicate foods such as fish fillets and dumplings.

It is made of BPA-free silicone rated to 450°F, works with pressure cooking, steaming and slow cooking, and fits 6- and 8-quart cookers. It is dishwasher safe, and Instant says the silicone resists stains and odors when cleaned and stored properly.

Key specs

  • Fits: 6- and 8-quart Instant Pot cookers
  • Material: BPA-free silicone, heat resistant to 450°F
  • Design: collapsible pleated sides, locking handles
  • Uses: steaming, pressure cooking, slow cooking, reheating
  • Cleanup: dishwasher safe

Pros

  • Official Instant Pot accessory
  • Collapses for compact storage
  • Gentle on delicate foods
  • Locking handles for lifting

Cons

  • Not as good a strainer as mesh
  • Silicone can hold smells if not cleaned well

Best for: Small kitchens and cooks who steam fish, eggs or dumplings.

4. Instant Pot Stainless Steel Inner Pot (6 qt) — Best for batch cooking

A second inner pot is the accessory batch cooks appreciate most. Cook a pot of soaked beans, chill it in the fridge, and use the second pot for dinner without washing anything first. This is an official Instant Pot verified accessory, compatible with the 6-quart Duo Plus 60, Duo 60, Duo Viva 60, Duo Nova 60 and Duo Crisp.

It is made of grade 304 (18/8) stainless steel with a tri-ply bottom for even heating, rolled edges and maximum fill line markings for pressure cooking safety. The mirror-polished surface is easy to clean, and Instant says it resists stains and doesn’t absorb food odors or flavors. If you’re still choosing a cooker, our Duo vs Duo Plus vs Duo Nova vs Duo Evo Plus guide explains which models it fits.

Key specs

  • Capacity: 6 quarts
  • Fits: 6-qt Duo Plus 60, Duo 60, Duo Viva 60, Duo Nova 60, Duo Crisp
  • Material: 304 (18/8) stainless steel; tri-ply bottom
  • Markings: maximum fill lines
  • Size/weight: 9.37″ D x 6.22″ H; 1.9 lb
  • Warranty: 1 year

Pros

  • Official, verified fit for popular 6-quart models
  • Stainless steel doesn’t absorb odors
  • Fill lines help you respect the half-full rule for beans
  • Makes back-to-back batch cooking easy

Cons

  • 6-quart only; buy the size that matches your cooker
  • Not compatible with every 6-quart model (e.g., Duo Evo Plus)

Best for: Weekly batch cooks of beans, broth and soups.

5. ZoneFly Sweet & Savory Sealing Rings (2-pack) — Best for avoiding odor transfer

Silicone sealing rings absorb smells over time, which is why many Instant Pot owners keep one ring for savory dishes like beans, curries and broth and another for yogurt and desserts. This 2-pack is labeled sweet and savory, so it’s easy to tell them apart. ZoneFly lists an 8.7-inch inside diameter and fit for 5- and 6-quart models including the Duo 60, Duo Plus, Lux, Ultra, Viva and Duo Crisp 6-quart, and recommends replacing rings every 12 to 18 months.

One honest caveat: Instant Pot’s own sealing ring listing warns that third-party rings may cause safety risks or reduced performance and may void the Instant Pot warranty. The official Instant Pot 2-packs we checked on Amazon were “Currently unavailable,” so if that matters to you, buy official rings from Instant directly. Either way, replace any ring that is cracked, stretched or no longer seals.

Key specs

  • Pack: 2 rings (sweet and savory)
  • Material: food-grade, BPA-free silicone
  • Size: 8.7″ inside diameter, 9.5″ outside diameter
  • Fits: 5- and 6-quart Instant Pot models (see listing)
  • Replacement: every 12–18 months recommended

Pros

  • Separate rings stop odor transfer
  • Labeled for sweet and savory
  • Fits most 5- and 6-quart Instant Pots
  • Cheap insurance against a worn seal

Cons

  • Third-party, not official Instant Pot
  • Instant says third-party rings may void its warranty

Best for: Anyone who makes yogurt, cheesecake or desserts in the same pot as savory food.

6. Instant Pot Tempered Glass Lid (8 qt) — Best for slow cooking and sautéing

The pressure lid is bulky and you can’t see through it. This genuine Instant Pot glass lid replaces it when you slow cook, sauté or keep food warm, so you can check on a simmering pot of bone broth or stew without lifting the lid. It has a steam vent and a sturdy stainless steel rim and handle.

This version is 10.2 inches and fits 8-quart Instant Pot cookers such as the IP-LUX80 and IP-DUO80. It is dishwasher safe and can be used with a stainless steel inner pot in the oven up to 428°F. If you own a 6-quart, look for the matching 6-quart Instant Pot glass lid instead.

Key specs

  • Size: 10.2″, fits 8-quart Instant Pot cookers
  • Material: tempered glass with stainless steel rim and handle
  • Features: steam vent
  • Oven safe: up to 428°F (with stainless inner pot)
  • Cleanup: dishwasher safe; 1.3 lb

Pros

  • See food while slow cooking or sautéing
  • Genuine Instant Pot accessory
  • Doubles as a lid for the inner pot in the oven
  • Lighter and easier to store than the pressure lid

Cons

  • 8-quart size only (6-quart sold separately)
  • Not for pressure cooking

Best for: Slow cooking, simmering broth and keeping food warm in an 8-quart Instant Pot.

7. Instant Pot Official 8-Piece Cook/Bake Set — Best for pot-in-pot cooking

Pot-in-pot cooking means setting a smaller pan on the trivet inside your Instant Pot so you can cook two things at once, or cook foods like egg bites and cakes that shouldn’t sit in water. This official set includes upper and lower wire egg racks, two silicone lids, a stainless steel round pan with a removable base, a solid-bottom stainless round pan and a removable divider.

The divider lets you cook two foods in one pan, the removable base has a silicone ring to prevent leaks, and the snap-fit lids let you store leftovers in the same pan. It is made of stainless steel and BPA-free silicone, heat resistant to 450°F, and fits 6- and 8-quart cookers.

Key specs

  • Included: 2 wire egg racks, 2 silicone lids, removable-base pan, solid-bottom pan, divider
  • Material: stainless steel and BPA-free silicone
  • Heat resistance: up to 450°F
  • Fits: 6- and 8-quart Instant Pot cookers
  • Features: leak-resistant removable base, snap-fit storage lids

Pros

  • Everything needed for pot-in-pot cooking
  • Stainless pans rather than nonstick coatings
  • Storage lids for leftovers
  • Official Instant Pot fit

Cons

  • More pieces to store
  • Pans take up much of the pot’s capacity

Best for: Meal preppers who want to cook two dishes at once or make egg bites and cakes.

Buyer’s Guide: Choosing Instant Pot Accessories

Match the size to your cooker

Accessories are sized for 3-, 6- or 8-quart pots. Inner pots, sealing rings and glass lids must match your exact size, and inner pots must also match your model. Racks, baskets and pans for 6-quart cookers usually fit an 8-quart, but not the other way around. Not sure what you have? Our Instant Pot size guide can help.

Choose stainless steel where it counts

Stainless steel racks, baskets, pans and inner pots don’t absorb odors and stand up to years of pressure cooking. Silicone is great for collapsible baskets and lids, but it can hold smells, so wash it well and let it dry fully.

Official or third-party?

Official Instant Pot accessories are designed for an exact fit, which matters most for parts that affect pressure, like sealing rings and inner pots. Racks, baskets and pans are lower risk, and third-party options can be fine. Avoid giant “70-piece” bundles; you’ll use a handful of pieces and store the rest.

Respect fill lines and minimum liquid

Accessories take up space. With a trivet and pan inside, you still need the minimum amount of liquid in the pot to build pressure, and foods that expand, like beans, should never go above the 1/2 line. Our guide to pressure cooking lectins out of beans covers safe bean habits in more detail.

Plan for storage

Collapsible silicone baskets and fold-flat trivets save space. Store the extra sealing ring in a labeled zip bag so you always know which is sweet and which is savory.

Instant Pot Accessories FAQ

What is the trivet in an Instant Pot for?

The trivet (steam rack) keeps food or a pan off the bottom of the inner pot and above the cooking liquid. You use it for steaming, pot-in-pot cooking, whole chickens and anything that shouldn’t sit in water.

Do I need a second Instant Pot sealing ring?

It’s a good idea. Silicone rings absorb odors, so many people keep one for savory foods and one for sweet foods. Rings also wear out; ZoneFly suggests replacing them every 12 to 18 months, and any ring that is cracked or no longer seals should be replaced right away.

Are 6-quart Instant Pot accessories compatible with an 8-quart?

Racks, baskets and pans for 6-quart pots usually fit in an 8-quart. Sealing rings, glass lids and inner pots do not; they must match your cooker’s size, and inner pots must also match your model.

Can I put Instant Pot accessories in the dishwasher?

Most of the stainless steel and silicone accessories in this guide are listed as dishwasher safe. Always check the listing or packaging for each item.

Which accessory helps most with cooking beans?

A mesh steamer basket for rinsing soaked beans, plus a spare inner pot if you batch-cook. The pressure cooker itself does the important work of cooking beans until fully tender.

Final Thoughts

The best Instant Pot accessories are the few you’ll use every week. Start with a trivet with long handles and the official mesh steamer baskets, add a second sealing ring for sweet dishes, and pick up a spare inner pot if you batch-cook beans. The glass lid and cook/bake set are worthwhile extras once you slow cook or cook pot-in-pot often. Still choosing a cooker?
